From your private veranda and waterfront promontory, you can take in the views and diverse wildlife including kingfishers, kookaburras and seasonal pelicans, as well as water dragons, turtles and platypus too. Platypus viewing is best at sunrise and sunset with ideal locations at nearby Peterson Creek Wildlife and Botanical Walk with main viewing points at Gillies Highway Bridge and Allumbah Pocket.

Using the on-site canoe, you can paddle through the waterways of Tinaburra Waters. On a full dam you can launch and anchor your own boat from your private promontory at Lakefront Holiday Villas, or you can launch your boat at the nearby boat ramp, or hire a dinghy from the local service station just minutes away.

On Tinaburra Waters and Lake Tinaroo you can enjoy a range of water-based sports and activities such as water skiing, wake boarding and fishing for the mighty barramundi and other fish too and red claw potting (permits are available at the Yungaburra mini-market and Yungaburra Pharmacy and bait and tackle is available in town too).

From your Waterfront Holiday Villa you can walk or canoe down to the Afghanistan Avenue of Honour – the first national memorial dedicated to the memory of Australian Service Personnel who have fallen in this campaign.

In Yungaburra visit a delightful array of coffee shops, restaurants, bookstores, art galleries, garden nursery, clothing and novelty shops, as well as a mini-mart, local pub, post office, chemist, fishing tackle shop.

Enjoy the Yungaburra Heritage Walk with Yungaburra showcasing the highest number of heritage-listed buildings outside regional centres in Queensland.

Hike around the nearby crater lakes – Lake Eacham and Lake Barrine – and enjoy a picnic and a swim. At Lake Barrine you can also enjoy a boat cruise and morning/afternoon tea or lunch at the waterfront tea house and visit the twin Kauri Pines on the shore of Lake Barrine just a 2-minute walk from the tea house.

Enjoy a day or night tour to view the Lumholtz’s tree-kangaroo, possums and other amazing rainforest animals with Alan’s Wildlife Tours.

Visit the nearby Curtain Fig Tree (5 mins drive away) – known as the Atherton Tableland’s most famous tree – it is easily accessed and circled by a boardwalk, or 25 minutes away is the Cathedral Fig Tree, which you can walk inside and experience the “cathedral-like” ambience.

Further afield is the Millaa Millaa lookout and waterfalls circuit, which includes Millaa Millaa Falls, Ellinjaa Falls and Zillie Falls, and other falls in the Millaa Millaa area include Mungalli Falls, Souita Falls and Papina Falls.

Other Tableland attractions include Mt Hypipamee Crater and Dinner Falls – great picnic destinations, and the Herberton Historic Village!
